A medium-sized vase with the cryetalline glaze Strelitzia, named for the orange and blue colors similar to the beautiful flower native to South Africa whose common name is bird of paradise flower/plant, because of a resemblance of its flowers to birds-of-paradise. Transparent glaze is applied inside the vase. It is one of a series of moon jars I make with varing sizes, ranging from 300g to 6kg.
The vase is 100% handmade, thrown on my potter’s wheel. The material is stoneware with red porcelean slip applied outside, thus making the background color red. It is fired with 20-hour schedule with additional whole day of cooling period.
