Maneki-neko, or “beckoning cat,” is a Japanese figurine believed to bring good luck, fortune, and prosperity. It is a common symbol of good luck in Japan and is often placed in shops and homes to invite customers and wealth. I started to make these cats for myself: I wanted more guests to my showroom and workshop. The meaning of the figurine varies depending on the paw that is raised, the color it is, and the objects it holds. My fat cats hold “Sen-man-ryo koban,” 10 million ryo coin, a huge amount of money. If they raise right paws, they invites wealth and money and if they raise left paws, they attract people, customers, and good relationships. They sit on red-colored cushion made sewed by me and have gold bells on their necks. Choose either left or right paw when you order. Since each cat is hand made, the size varies slightly.
